Ministries of Covering impact on community
Premarital/Marital Counseling - Marriage is a holy institution, established and sanctified by God for the primary purpose of raising children to know and have relationship with God. The breakdown of marriages in this country continues to have generational consequences. Bishop Clay often says, “You have to see something to be it.” Children from broken marriages do not see God’s plan for marriage modeled in their homes and therefore have little or no concept of what God’s plan for marriage looks like. (They certainly don’t see it from our cultural examples such as T.V.) Through our premarital counseling sessions, potential marriage couples learn to discern if they are purposed by God to be married, and if so, where their marriage will likely come under attacks and how (biblically) to resolve inevitable conflicts.
Elder Lee became aware of
Petra
while he was a member of another church. Some members of
Petra
assisted Elder Lee and his wife Suzy in their “Project Angel Tree” outreach program, helping them to deliver gifts to children of incarcerated parents within the
Homewood
and East Liberty neighborhoods of
Pittsburgh.
Through that experience, God gave Elder Lee and his wife a great desire to learn more about
Petra,
so they began attending Wednesday night and Sunday night worship services. After a year of attending Sunday morning worship service at their former church and Wednesday and Sunday night services at Petra, God made it perfectly clear to them through a vision and a dream that they were purposed to be at Petra.
Elder Lee was ordained an elder of Petra International Ministries in 2001.
Ministry Perspective
I don’t really have a philosophy on serving God. I strive to be an obedient servant of God, following where his Spirit leads me. John 3:8 says: “The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” (NIV)
